Scripture

"And any man that shall go and preach this gospel of the kingdom, and fail not to continue faithful in all things, shall not be weary in mind, neither darkened, neither in body, limb, nor joint; and a hair of his head shall not fall to the ground unnoticed. And they shall not go hungry, neither athirst." - Doctrine and Covenants 84:80

The Long Walk

Just a lil' update for the week. I gotta help with the Zone Leader's baptism in our ward on Saturday, so that's always fun. There were three of them in the family and it was kinda fun because they were the first people I've interviewed for their baptism.

First People Elder Molnar Interviewed for Baptism

Wednesday was waaaaaaay sick. We had a mission tour here, so for us we had I think 4 zone's get together for a big meeting and Elder Echo Hawk (new member of the area presidency and a member of the quorum of the 70) and his wife came. Ah, it was sooo good. It lasted most the day so, it's kinda hard to go into detail. Elder Echo Hawk's way cool though. He definitely felt like a General Authority -- just the power he spoke with and when he'd shake your hand and look into your soul. Ha!  Kinda cool. It was such a fun day. I'll send some pics of me and the Echo Hawks, soon.

I guess the reason Sister Sperry messaged you is because of my "special opportunity". Elder Echo Hawk gave his opening remarks and stuff and then one of our APs who was conducting, stood up and said, "Alright, we're gonna have two speakers give us their five minute talks that we asked you all to prepare for. So, we'll have.. Elder Molnar and Sister Lavrador..." Haha!  So, I got up and walked up to the stand and sat by Sister Echo Hawk. A surprise talk in front of a General Authority? Haaa.. nah! It's was way fun though. It went fine.. hopefully!

But that's the lil update for the week. Enjoy!

Love ya!

Utah Flood???

'Sup dad!
Ya, the baptism went good the other day! Actually, our ward mission leader set everything up for the first time, so that was nice. Just enjoy an American run ward. There are some challenges here in the Philippines. The missionaries literally do a lot here to help run the ward.  It's all good though because I am really learning how things work.
I like that quote Dad! I feel bad being so lazy with home teaching once I got to the singles ward. Thanks for teaching me how it should be done! Now I can see the importance of it.
But ya, all's good here. I'll add some details in my letter to mom.

Haha ya freak Mom! You guys get to chill in the Bahamas too! Ha! They called our area that the other day and I thought it was clever (baha - means flood). Ya Brittney sent me a pic of the skate park in Orem all flooded and what not. Yaaa, just get ready for the second coming! Since when does Utah flood? and all the "hastening the work"? Haha! I heard we might get ipads out here next year. Ha but freak, second coming though. Get ready!
I'm way stoked for you two to serve a mission. You'll love it out here ;) Quezon City North mission! Callin' it! Also, thanks for your testimony mom. You're dope.
This week was chill. We got to go to the temple because my comp had to get his x-ray that missionaries get before they go home. I haven't gotten to do a session in like 6 months!
We had a baptism on Saturday, so that was way fun! I'm pretty sure that when my comp goes home in a month that I'll get transferred too, so we're workin at getting everyone baptized at our next stake baptism on October 5th, right before transfers. So far we have 6 or 7 prospects, so hopefully we'll get at least one for the stake baptism!
That's about all I can remember for now. Stay tuned for next week! I'm sorry that my emails get more boring every week. But I'll tell all in 10 months -- post mish!
Love ya!

Happy Birthday Mom!

September 1, 2013

Freak lady, you need to get out and enjoy birthdays more.  I'm glad my little letter got there in time. Sorry it wasn't much. but I'll spoil ya when I get home and get rich.

The weeks been good. We got a baptism coming up this Saturday so that's always good. We've also been working with this kid who just came home from his mission, so it's been a blast. I've been learning a lot from him.

Yesterday at church was great. We've been struggling getting people from the ward to work with us so we can teach sisters where there isn't a guy in the home.  We had an idea for when we get punted, of just taking the less actives with us and introducing them to each other. Hey, it worked too! We got a new family at church the other day. They are way dope. We gave their son a blessing the other day (we've given like 10 this week) because they though he had dengue.  When we went back, he was all good.

We also got this one investigator to church finally. Nicest lady in the world, other than you mom ;) She tried to drop us a while back, but she's too nice. So when we stop by, she always lets us in.  Now she came to church and has a baptism date this month.

Nothing too much! We have a mission tour next week with Elder Echo Hawk coming, so that will be great!

Aight, love ya! Peace.

Elder Larry Echo Hawk
Elder Echo Hawk is a General Authority of the Church.  He is a member of the Pawnee Nation and was the first American Indian elected as a State Attorney General in 1990 for Idaho. He eceived a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1970 and a Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of Utah in 1973.

Haha Dad! The weather doesn't dry here. We got drenched yesterday walking around and tried to use scraps of tarp as umbrellas. It almost kinda worked!

Yes, Elder Leonards here, but I'm not sure when I'll get to see him. We're both in areas that don't get to go to the temple anymore, which is basically the only time now that I get to see anyone.

We have a baptism this week, so it should be good. Hopefully we will have a few more this month too. We are finally getting some new people to church, which is always the biggest problem. Hey, just curious. Do we have a ward mission leader in our ward, and ward missionaries? I don't remember. I always just use our home ward as a model of what hopefully we can model the church here to be like.

Hope Mom's birthday was good and Britt's will be too! I'll be back in technically only 10 months now to join in on the fun!

Peace homie! Love ya!

Look at the waves! And I thought there were no beaches here..

 'Sup Dog?

(These pics were taken before the flood.)

A little update for the week!..literally a little. We had a District Meeting on Tuesday, which was the first day with the big floods. Some of the elders who don't live close to our church, had to walk through waist deep flood water on the highways to get there, so we had a nice district meeting without shoes or socks and everyone's pants rolled up. Then President Sperry and the APs randomly showed up to join us. I was a little nervous because I didn't know they were coming and I have never given a workshop with them there before, but it was way dope!

We got stuck in our house for three days - Tuesday through Thursday. The floods here are filthy, so our Mission President told us not to go out in them, not even to help the people. The flood waters were way deep. Part of my area was flooded like 5 or 6 feet, and our apartment was next to a little river.  The street was flooded waist high in some spots.

So, we only actually worked just a few days this week. Saturday we had a stake baptism which was way dope. We didn't have anyone ready in time, but we brought a recent convert and his brother who gets baptized on the 7th to come watch.

We have transfers coming up tomorrow! It looks like I'm staying here now that we're done with training, Elder Jeciel will be transferring. Ha! Easiest training ever. We had a blast. Jeciel's next comp is pretty cool too. He kinda reminds me of Elder Devin Soper, or someone. My new comp will be Elder Langsang.

Just FHE last night.. decent turn out. Ha! And ya, that room is the whole house.

But ya, that's about it!
Love ya!

Lil' Typhoon Two

Haha ya, Dad said you guys had a lil' flood last night too! We got hit by another lil typhoon yesterday. It rained aallll day long. August is always the rainiest month. It's kinda hard to "deal with it", but i guess you just gotta get used to walking through rivers. I was so stoked for flood season until I realized how dirty it is. Some places smell so bad. The river next to our house flooded last night and so the town was all flooded on our walk home. We just gave in and enjoyed it, and splashed the heck out of each other. But that river smells so bad. Ah, oh well. I'll be able to take an actual shower in only 11 more months! Haha!

All's good here. Just us missionaries all gettin super trunky. We had Stake Conference yesterday and for some reason, most of it was about RMs getting married right away! Haha, uh oh!

This week was dope! We gave three new baptism dates to some investigators. Of of course I'll most likely get transferred next week though, since we'll be done training. So I'll probably miss the baptisms. Oh well.  I'm just stoked to see how much the area has improved since from when me and my comp got here three months back. But yea, I could be movin on to area number 5 next week! Haha...I'm gettin' pretty old.

Also, I went did exchanges with some of the elders in my district, so I went and worked with a new elder out in their area. But it was fun. A member worked with us who was actually one of Elder Mauzy's (one of my MTC teachers), converts. Pretty cool!

That's about it i guess. I'll let you know Tuesday what the plan is for transfers! Hey, maybe there's still a chance me and Leonard will be comps!

But ya, love ya guys!

Typhoon!!!!

I love how all you and dad talk about are the chickens. Life sounds pretty insane back home! But ya, we got a text last night that we're expecting a typhoon today with 165 km/hr winds! Just prayin' it comes! I haven't had any good storms yet, so I'm stoked!

What else? Just us four elders in my ward getting ready for our new album to come out. Haha, getting pretty famous out here. We composed another song for another missionary in our ward who is going out. We played for her farewell. She's going to Hong Kong, so we did a little mashup of English, Tagalog, and Cantonese (we had a Chinese elder here translate for us). Our ward started calling us Elders Direction. I always wanted to be in a boy band!!

Ummm...just teaching some new investigators we have. Actually, we're doing way dope. We have this one. I'm not sure if I mentioned her yet. We taught her about the Book of Mormon and Moroni's promise the other day and she's actually doing way good. She's been  reading and was tearing up as we had her say the closing prayer. Already feelin' the spirit!

Also we have this guy we're teaching. We had a way sick lesson last night. We ended up teaching the whole first lesson about Joseph Smith and stuff. He struggles with family problems and the Word of Wisdom (duh everyone here does), but he told us he knows this church is true. But then again the last church he went to was Inglesia ni Cristo. When they baptize you, they hold your head under the water till you see Jesus. They have "authority" to kill people if needed. They give you money to come to church then after baptism, scam the crud out of you. Basically just what 2 Nephi 26:20 states: (2 Nephi 26:20 And the Gentiles are lifted up in the pride of their eyes, and have stumbled, because of the greatness of their stumbling block, that they have built up many churches; nevertheless, they put down the power and miracles of God, and preach up unto themselves their own wisdom and their own learning, that they may get gain and grind upon the face of the poor." So, comparing us to his church especially. Duh! He believes us. We haven't given him a date yet, but brought up baptism with him!

But ya, dope week. Duh. As always!

Peace! Love ya!

Waitin' on Elder Leonard!

Ya, so Leonard isn't coming till August 28th, I hear? Actually, that's perfect cause that way we have a chance to be comps. Ha, I was talking to President and Sister Sperry about that the other day at our District Leader Training. Sister Sperry thinks we wouldn't do any work :-),  but we were talking about at least being in the same zone. Ha! I guess we'll see what happens.
That's dope about the Mauerman's call. That's where Elder Stauffer is, right? He gets home soon too. So nuts!

Things are still going well here.  I just finishing up my last few weeks of training. It went by fast. My comp's way chill so it's been nice. We had a sick testimony meeting yesterday. We have a bunch of missionaries in my ward getting ready to leave, so they all were in tears bearing the testimonies and another missionary just got home the other day, so his testimony was dope too. Crazy!  That'll be me in 11 months.

Remember that investigator, the one I mentioned about smoking? Well, we gave him a baptism date yesterday. We still gotta help him quit, but he's doing way dope so that was good. We had a lot of good lessons, yesterday especially. We finally got to teach this one inactive and taught him about the plan of salvation. It's kind of weird teaching him though cause he was the branch president a few years back so duh, he knows everything. Inactive old bishops and stake presidents...Ya, I'll never understand that.

But ya, all's good! Tell Elder Leonard I'm stoked to be comps!

Thanks for you prayers and support! Love ya!
