Scripture

"And any man that shall go and preach this gospel of the kingdom, and fail not to continue faithful in all things, shall not be weary in mind, neither darkened, neither in body, limb, nor joint; and a hair of his head shall not fall to the ground unnoticed. And they shall not go hungry, neither athirst." - Doctrine and Covenants 84:80

10 Month Countdown!

Sister Echo Hawk, Elder Echo Hawk, President Sperry and Sister Sperry
I may or may have not noticed that I'll be home in 10 months from today, and only a few more days until I break the 300 days left mark.

I'll keep an eye out for the package. I don't really need much, but just whateves. It's all good. Packages are expensive so if you want, just a Christmas one and birthday one and I'll be happy. just save that money for 10 more months.

So just a quick update cause honestly this week was pretty rough and I don't wanna be too negative. We have our stake baptism this Saturday. We should've had three investies good to go for that, but we've been struggling getting the members of the ward to work with us so we can teach sisters without a guy there. We had two golden investigators that we had to postpone their baptism date. We literally texted everyone in our phone book and no one would work with us so couldn't even teach them.  Then our other one was out of town yesterday and didn't come to church. Ahh such a bummer.

Also, we have this family we're trying to get to the temple, but that didn't work out.  I won't go into detail.  Yea, a few disappoints this week.

We're making some good progress with (name withheld) dad which is way dope.We can hopefully get him to not have to work on Sundays so he can come to church and get baptized. That family's way dope. The whole family are active members and now have two kids out on missions.  We just have to get the dad baptized. He's come a long way already.

That's about all for now! I find out on Friday what's gonna happen with transfers next week, so keep me in your prayers! Gotta go somewhere good for the holidays!

Love you guys!

Floods, Terrorists and Christmas Around the Corner

We got hit by another typhoon, but just a little bit here. I just woke up this morning and everywhere outside our apartment was flooded about knee high. I am used to it now. It's chill. Rainy season's about over and then Christmas time! (Christmas in Philippines goes from September through December) Although Christmas is definitely a lot different here.

Transfers are on October 9th and I'm guessing I'll be out of here. The works going well here. We've all just been workin to get things ready for our stake baptism on October 5. I think everyone should at least have one. We're hoping to have 3, but we'll see what happens. Only a few weeks left.

And no worries. All that terrorist stuff is down south were they don't even have American missionaries. The middle east people are pretty nice here. I was sitting at my desk the other night and this Indian guy peeked through my window and said in a total Indian accent, "Hello! You American?" I was just like, "Yup, I am." Then he was just like "Oh... did you eat your dinner?" "Yea, just finished." Then he was just awkward and said, "Oh, OK.  Bye."  So yea, nothing to worry about!

Yes, Brother and Sister Sperry get home just a few weeks before I do. You guys should go to their homecoming.  I wish I could.

Well nothing super new here. I've just been gettin' sick. My comp was sick last week and now passed it on to me. I was dying yesterday, but came home and just passed out last night, but I feel quite a bit better today. I just had a fever and stuff, but I'm alright now.

Some Jehovah's Witnesses came to our house the other day. They tried to OYM us. (OYM = Open Your Mouth - referring to sharing the Gospel) but the guy was nice.  So we just listen and oym'ed him back.  We got his info so missionaries can go teach them.:-)

We have this new investigator. She's waaaaay sick. She's the house help of a member in the ward, so we started teaching her. She's been going through churches for the past 42 years trying to find the right one. We had a really good lesson with her and she came to church and talked to us for a while about the Plan of Salvation pamphlet that we had given her. She was stoked and understood everything really well. She is definitely a "golden" investie. We are actually teaching her again tonight, so we'll give her a baptismal date too.

Eh, what else? I did exchanges with some elders in my district, so we brought a new elder to our area. we had a looong lesson with the old branch president of this ward who's apostated now and doesn't believe in prophets after Christ. His only reason is cause he said the Bible says Christ would be the last prophet. So, I asked him where it says that and he didn't know. Oh well...

We've been focusing a lot with teaching active members and giving them Books of Mormon to give out. So hey, you guys do the same, alright? Practice for your couples mish!

Thats all!  Love ya,

The Long Walk

Just a lil' update for the week. I gotta help with the Zone Leader's baptism in our ward on Saturday, so that's always fun. There were three of them in the family and it was kinda fun because they were the first people I've interviewed for their baptism.

First People Elder Molnar Interviewed for Baptism

Wednesday was waaaaaaay sick. We had a mission tour here, so for us we had I think 4 zone's get together for a big meeting and Elder Echo Hawk (new member of the area presidency and a member of the quorum of the 70) and his wife came. Ah, it was sooo good. It lasted most the day so, it's kinda hard to go into detail. Elder Echo Hawk's way cool though. He definitely felt like a General Authority -- just the power he spoke with and when he'd shake your hand and look into your soul. Ha!  Kinda cool. It was such a fun day. I'll send some pics of me and the Echo Hawks, soon.

I guess the reason Sister Sperry messaged you is because of my "special opportunity". Elder Echo Hawk gave his opening remarks and stuff and then one of our APs who was conducting, stood up and said, "Alright, we're gonna have two speakers give us their five minute talks that we asked you all to prepare for. So, we'll have.. Elder Molnar and Sister Lavrador..." Haha!  So, I got up and walked up to the stand and sat by Sister Echo Hawk. A surprise talk in front of a General Authority? Haaa.. nah! It's was way fun though. It went fine.. hopefully!

But that's the lil update for the week. Enjoy!

Utah Flood???

'Sup dad!
Ya, the baptism went good the other day! Actually, our ward mission leader set everything up for the first time, so that was nice. Just enjoy an American run ward. There are some challenges here in the Philippines. The missionaries literally do a lot here to help run the ward.  It's all good though because I am really learning how things work.
I like that quote Dad! I feel bad being so lazy with home teaching once I got to the singles ward. Thanks for teaching me how it should be done! Now I can see the importance of it.
But ya, all's good here. I'll add some details in my letter to mom.

Haha ya freak Mom! You guys get to chill in the Bahamas too! Ha! They called our area that the other day and I thought it was clever (baha - means flood). Ya Brittney sent me a pic of the skate park in Orem all flooded and what not. Yaaa, just get ready for the second coming! Since when does Utah flood? and all the "hastening the work"? Haha! I heard we might get ipads out here next year. Ha but freak, second coming though. Get ready!
I'm way stoked for you two to serve a mission. You'll love it out here ;) Quezon City North mission! Callin' it! Also, thanks for your testimony mom. You're dope.
This week was chill. We got to go to the temple because my comp had to get his x-ray that missionaries get before they go home. I haven't gotten to do a session in like 6 months!
We had a baptism on Saturday, so that was way fun! I'm pretty sure that when my comp goes home in a month that I'll get transferred too, so we're workin at getting everyone baptized at our next stake baptism on October 5th, right before transfers. So far we have 6 or 7 prospects, so hopefully we'll get at least one for the stake baptism!
That's about all I can remember for now. Stay tuned for next week! I'm sorry that my emails get more boring every week. But I'll tell all in 10 months -- post mish!
Love ya!

Happy Birthday Mom!

September 1, 2013

Freak lady, you need to get out and enjoy birthdays more.  I'm glad my little letter got there in time. Sorry it wasn't much. but I'll spoil ya when I get home and get rich.

The weeks been good. We got a baptism coming up this Saturday so that's always good. We've also been working with this kid who just came home from his mission, so it's been a blast. I've been learning a lot from him.

Yesterday at church was great. We've been struggling getting people from the ward to work with us so we can teach sisters where there isn't a guy in the home.  We had an idea for when we get punted, of just taking the less actives with us and introducing them to each other. Hey, it worked too! We got a new family at church the other day. They are way dope. We gave their son a blessing the other day (we've given like 10 this week) because they though he had dengue.  When we went back, he was all good.

We also got this one investigator to church finally. Nicest lady in the world, other than you mom ;) She tried to drop us a while back, but she's too nice. So when we stop by, she always lets us in.  Now she came to church and has a baptism date this month.

Nothing too much! We have a mission tour next week with Elder Echo Hawk coming, so that will be great!

Aight, love ya! Peace.

Elder Larry Echo Hawk
Elder Echo Hawk is a General Authority of the Church.  He is a member of the Pawnee Nation and was the first American Indian elected as a State Attorney General in 1990 for Idaho. He eceived a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 1970 and a Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of Utah in 1973.

Haha Dad! The weather doesn't dry here. We got drenched yesterday walking around and tried to use scraps of tarp as umbrellas. It almost kinda worked!

Yes, Elder Leonards here, but I'm not sure when I'll get to see him. We're both in areas that don't get to go to the temple anymore, which is basically the only time now that I get to see anyone.

We have a baptism this week, so it should be good. Hopefully we will have a few more this month too. We are finally getting some new people to church, which is always the biggest problem. Hey, just curious. Do we have a ward mission leader in our ward, and ward missionaries? I don't remember. I always just use our home ward as a model of what hopefully we can model the church here to be like.

Hope Mom's birthday was good and Britt's will be too! I'll be back in technically only 10 months now to join in on the fun!

Peace homie! Love ya!
